Does this sound like your whole body?

  • The pain moves around, and no scan ever explains it.
  • A good day tempts you to do too much, and you pay for it for three.
  • You wake up unrefreshed, as if you never slept.
  • Touch that should feel fine can feel like too much.
  • You avoid the things that used to be small. A walk that turned into three bad days. A class that wiped out the week.
  • You have been told it is stress, or that it is all in your head.

You have not lost movement. You have lost the trust that you can move without paying for it.

Fibromyalgia is real, and it is not in your head. It is increasingly understood as a nervous system that has turned up the volume on pain, a system stuck in a protective, amplified state. That state is exhausting, and effortful exercise can make it louder. Feldenkrais speaks to that nervous system gently. Instead of pushing the body, it offers small, comfortable movements that can signal safety, and an amplified system can slowly begin to turn the volume back down.

Fibromyalgia

If you have already tried a lot of things

  • Medication

    took the edge off

    Medication
  • Heat pads

    comfort while warm

    Heat pads
  • Rest and pacing

    until you do too much

    Rest and pacing
  • Yoga or Pilates

    flared you the next day

    Yoga or Pilates

None of these were wrong, and most brought some relief. Medication can take the edge off, heat soothes while it lasts, careful rest and pacing keep the worst days at bay, and a gentle class feels good until it asks for a little too much. What none of them reach is the deeper pattern underneath, an over-sensitized nervous system that keeps the volume of pain turned up, so the relief fades and the flares find their way back.

Feldy works with that nervous system itself. Through small, comfortable movements that never ask you to push, the system can begin to register safety and slowly turn the volume down, so a good day costs you fewer bad ones. You do not have to give up anything that helps you. Feldy is the missing piece that makes the rest add up. Do less, gain more.

Why Feldenkrais works for fibromyalgia

  1. 1. Gentleness is the active ingredient, not a limitation.

With fibromyalgia, the usual advice to push harder often backfires, because the system is already over-firing. Feldenkrais is built entirely around movements small and comfortable enough that the nervous system rarely registers them as a threat. That is part of what lets it begin to settle.

  2. 2. Spreading the load can quiet the hot spots.

When the whole body shares a movement, no single area has to brace and guard. The lessons invite that sharing back, so the places that flare are asked to do less, and the constant low-level guarding has somewhere to release.

  3. 3. Movement intelligence: change comes from noticing, not forcing.

You will not push through pain. You will not power past fatigue. You will pay close attention to small movements in a supported position, and that attention is what tends to help the system find its way to a quieter setting.

From people with fibromyalgia

The first movement that didn't make me pay for it.

I'm 31, and I'd started to feel like I was in worse shape than my grandmother. Every time I tried the exercise everyone swears by, I would be in bed for days, so I mostly stopped, and grieved the life I thought I would be living. These lessons are the first movement that has not made me pay for it. They are so small and slow that my body never sounds the alarm, and I am getting back small pieces of my day instead of dreading what comes after.

A first full week, in years, without a flare.

With fibromyalgia, everything used to feel like too much. Stretching hurts. Exercise flares me up. The instruction to stop before pain is what changed it for me. These lessons are so small and slow that my body doesn't fight back. Honestly: relief and fun. First whole week without a flare in years.

Fewer of the crashes that used to wipe out my month.

Every program I tried assumed that if I just pushed a little harder I would get better, and every one of them put me in bed for a week. These lessons never ask me to push. On a bad day I make the movements tiny and still feel something settle. I have had fewer of the crashes that used to wipe out my month.

Selected research

What the research shows

Evidence from 16 clinical trials

Pooling 16 controlled trials, researchers found large improvements in balance and mobility among older adults, with pain relief similar to standard physical therapy.

Even one quiet lesson changes brain activity

Brain imaging suggests a single short Feldenkrais lesson shifts activity in the brain's movement areas. This is learning, not a workout.

Feldenkrais is a way of learning easier movement, not a medical treatment.

You do not need to believe this will work. Just try it.

Many people are skeptical at first, and they should be. If you have lived with fibromyalgia for years, you have been promised relief before, and you have paid for hope with flares.

That is the whole point of the free week. You do not have to decide whether Feldy works. You only have to notice whether your body feels a little quieter after a lesson.

Why I made Feldy

Chava Sorani, Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner

The people I worked with were not looking for another exercise program. They were tired of negotiating with their bodies every day, of doing everything right and still feeling stuck.

I made Feldy so they could have that same gentle guidance at home, in their own room, at their own pace, whenever they need it. Every lesson is my voice, guiding you the way I would in person.

How this works, in plain terms

  1. 1

Lie down, on your bed or with extra cushions, as supported as you like. No equipment, no setup, no special clothes.

  2. 2

Press play and follow Chava's voice. The movements are small, slow, and well inside the comfortable range. You never push through pain, and on a hard day you can make every movement smaller or simply rest.

  3. 3

Notice the difference. Many people stand up after a lesson and feel the body a touch lighter, the noise of it a little lower. Students often call it meditation in movement: present, unhurried, attention turned inward, with no pushing and no comparison to anyone else.

What your first week looks like

Seven days, free, no credit card.

  • Day one. Your first guided lesson with Chava, about 30 to 45 minutes lying down, helping you notice where your body is braced and guarding against movement.
  • Through the week. The short morning and bedtime rituals, five to ten minutes each, gentle enough for a tender day, to carry a little ease into ordinary days.

Open it in any web browser, on your phone or computer, with nothing to install. No card to start, and you can stop any time.

What you can expect to feel

In your first lesson

  • 1.Your breath may deepen on its own, and a layer of bracing you had stopped noticing can begin to soften.
  • 2.Some part of you that is usually braced, the jaw, the shoulders, the belly, may let go a little.
  • 3.When you stand up afterward, your body may feel a touch lighter, and the noise of it a little lower.

The first changes people tend to notice

In the first days, it is usually quiet things. You may sleep a little deeper, or wake a touch less stiff. A layer of bracing you had stopped noticing, in the jaw or the shoulders, can begin to soften. The body can feel a little lighter when you stand, and the noise of it a little lower. None of this is a dramatic breakthrough. It is an over-sensitized system finding, in small steps, that it is safe to settle.

Common Questions about Fibromyalgia (FAQ)

Can I do this on a high-pain or flare day?

Yes, gently. The whole method is built around what feels easy. On a hard day you make every movement smaller and slower, or you simply rest and listen. Nothing in the lessons requires you to push, and the gentleness is part of what makes it suitable when other movement is not.

I have been told to exercise, but it always makes me worse. Why would this be different?

Different mechanism, very gentle and soft. This is not exercise. Effortful exercise asks a sensitized system to do more, and it often flares. Feldenkrais asks for very little: small, comfortable movements done lying down, with attention rather than effort. For many people with fibromyalgia, that is part of the difference between flaring and finally settling.

Is this a treatment or cure for fibromyalgia?

No. Feldenkrais is not a medical treatment or cure for fibromyalgia, and it does not replace your medical care. What it can offer is a gentle way to calm an over-sensitized nervous system, ease the bracing that builds around the pain, and move with a little more comfort. Many people find that layer of support meaningful alongside their existing care, including whatever your doctor or physiotherapist has set up.

I am exhausted. Will I have the energy for this?

Most people do. The lessons are done lying down, last about 30 to 45 minutes, and ask for no exertion. There is no cardiovascular demand and nothing to strain. Many people find a lesson leaves them more rested than when they started, not more depleted.

What if I do not feel anything in the first lesson?

That is fine and common, especially with fibromyalgia. The effects are often subtle and cumulative. The change tends to show up after the lesson, in how you sleep that night or how braced you feel the next day, and to build across the second and third lessons as the system begins to update. More significant change usually becomes clear over several weeks. Give it five lessons before you decide. Curiosity matters more than sensation here.
